Review: Gold bio-collagen facial mask

I have suffered from acne for the most part of eight years. Now that the breakouts have calmed down, I’ve been left with scars that make me feel self-conscious and sometimes pretty down, but it is something I have learned to live with and I have accepted that it is a part of me. I do, however, from time to time try out different things to calm down the scarring and moisturise the dry patches that a breakout has left behind. A friend of mine had a few gold bio-collagen facial masks and we decided to try them together. The masks are like a sheet mask but jelly-like in consistency.

I have combination skin and weather dependant skin. Oily in the summer and dry in the winter. My T-zone tends to stay mostly oily whilst my cheeks and nose can get so dry. My friend Gabby, who also tried the mast has pretty normal skin, sometimes getting oily in the T-zone. With such different types of skin, we thought it would be great to try together.

This particular mask aims to do many things. From instant lifting and firming to providing an anti-inflammatory, it claimed to have it all.

I was pretty sceptical, given that you can pick up the exact same mask on eBay for less than a pound. However, I’m the type of person that is willing to try anything once.

Here is what the mask looked like when we applied it.

Applying your average sheet mask should be pretty straight-forward. Get it out the packaging and pop it on your face. However, with this particular mask, there is a whole lot of serum hanging around the bottom of the packaging that you should apply once the gold mask is on your face. This can be pretty messy and having Gabby pour it on my face resulted in a whole load of stains and a lot of laughs!

I would suggest either popping the serum in a spray bottle that you have hanging around or placing it in a jug making it easier to pour over your face. It will save a whole load of hassle. Also, I could not open my eyes for a while. Serum in the eye = pain!

It says to leave the mask on for between 20-30 minutes. We put the masks on and relaxed. It felt calming and wasn't irritating to the skin, which I find with many other masks, given that my skin is extremely sensitive. Gabby said that she felt really relaxed too.

I did notice that the mask started to get really cold, which I didn't see as much of a problem. It felt very cooling and moisturising.

With the 30 minutes up, we took the masks off and I must say I was absolutely ASTONISHED by the way that my skin looked. It had gone from dry to gloriously moiturised and the redness of my skin had almost completely disappeared. I was shocked. Some of my scars felt like they had completely disappeared, and for the first time in a while, I felt absolutely fabulous with a fresh, bare face.

For the days that followed, my skin continued to feel absolutely incredible, soft and moisturised. I would 1,000,000% recommend that anybody try this mask. Gabby also mentioned that her skin was really soft and felt plump.

There were no filters on any of these pictures and as you can tell there was a massive improvement. Hope you enjoyed and don't forget to stay sassy.
