Banana and Nutella crown
Hey girls, I’ve tried and, of course, tested a new recipe for all of you over the weekend, and this ones going to give you your chocolate-fix in no time! Happy baking!
You will need:
375g ready-made puff pastry
1 banana
Nutella (half a standard jar will be more than enough)
1 egg (for coating)
1. First, preheat the oven on Gas Mark 5/190C.
Line a 35cm x 25cm baking tray (or as close as) with grease proof paper. Roll out your pastry into a rectangle to roughly the same size as the baking tray.
2. Then, chop the banana into small pieces and place horizontally across your pastry, about 3cm down from the top of the rectangle. As seen below.
3. Now, with a sharp knife, make 6cm high slits into the pastry from the bottom, all the way across the rectangle. There should be about 2-3cm between each slit where the banana sits above.
4. Next, put your Nutella jar in the microwave for 30 seconds to make the consistency runnier. Then, pour Nutella across the banana, so most of the fruit is covered. (Add a little more if you’re a Nutella fan!)
5. Finally, roll the pastry from the top to the bottom, ensuring the Nutella and Banana is tightly packed in. Then, bend the roll round until it almost makes a full circle, the slits will help you do this. Coat the pastry in an egg coating, and place in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crown is a golden shiny colour.
Final thought: This crown is an ideal tear and share style dessert, serve with a bit of Nutella to dip in and maybe a sprinkle of chopped nuts for decoration. It tastes great, and is such a simple fun treat to make.
