Highlighting and contour products that all pale girls need
Getting the right contouring and highlighting shade can be difficult for pale girls, with most colours turning muddy on the skin. Highlighters can often end up too dark and obvious rather than giving off the natural, dewy look that so many girls desire. Never fear, for I have found a collection of amazing products that all pale girls can rely on.
Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade Fair 1 is amazing for creating a glow to the face. It is the only shade that is slightly lighter than my skin tone, making it ideal for brightening the under-eye area as well as down the nose. I draw triangles under the eye before blending out with a beauty blender and putting a small stripe down my nose. This concealer is very much neutral toned, so you won’t be left with any odd looking dark yellow patches.
If you’d prefer an added glittery glow, try Benefit’s High Beam. The satin pink highlighter looks amazing on so many different skin tones, and I love the natural hint of radiance it gives me. Simply apply it using the included applicator, dotting it on before blending out with your fingers. A little bit goes a long way, so start with just a few dots before deciding if you want to add more. I apply this to my cheekbones and a tiny amount to the tip of my nose, although you can also apply this to your brow bone to make your eyeshadow pop.
The Balm’s Bahama Mama bronzer is beautifully cool toned, meaning it won’t turn orange or look muddy when blended out - a problem that all pale girls has. Take a small contouring brush, such as Real Techniques’ Contour Brush, and apply a small amount to the cheekbones. Make sure you blend it up to the forehead and under the jawline so it gives a natural, sun-kissed look while also sculpting your face.
If you want to give cream contouring a go, I’d recommend Revolution’s Pro HD Cream Contour palette. It’s great for beginners as it includes a variety of colours for just £10. While many people use a beauty blender to apply, I prefer to draw simple lines where I want the contour to be before buffing out with Real Techniques’ Buffing Brush and applying some bronzer on top. The shades are cool toned browns but also include some pale concealer colours that are great for highlighting.
Both Bourjouis’ Healthy Balance unifying powder in 52 Vanilla and Rimmel’s Stay Matte pressed powder in Transparent 1 are my go-to for setting my makeup. Not only do they feel smooth and are light enough for pale skin, they make the makeup last a lot longer. I use the same buffing brush mentioned above but use a pressing motion rather than rubbing and blending, as this will smudge the layer of makeup underneath.
