A skin healing smoothie for every day of the week

Pretty much every girl wants clear skin, the kind of flawless where you can go makeup-free for days on end and no-one bats an eyelid.

As a girl who has struggled with spots and redness all her life, I can tell you that it's simple - to get that beautiful skin you've always wished for, you just have to stop using too much makeup and start eating the right fruit and vegetables.

This is because some of the best ingredients for your skin lives inside them, such as carotenoid, found in things like kale, spinach and carrots.

But before you go crazy trying to cram all of these things into your daily meals, why don’t you consider combining them in smoothies to make the most of a clear skin vitamin hit?

Here are five of the best smoothies for your skin, one for each day of the week (allowing you to have weekends off!)

Monday: pumpkin smoothie.

Loaded with multiple disease-fighting ingredients, pumpkin is an amazing superfood everyone should be involving in their diet. As canned pumpkin packs in 17mg of beta-carotene and seven grams of fibre per cup, this is definitely a smoothie for a girl who wants spot-free radiant skin.

Ingredients:

Half a can of canned pure pumpkin, frozen in an ice cube tray

200g Greek-style yoghurt

Half a cup of water

A quarter of an avocado

2 tbsp ground flax seed

1 tsp pumpkin spice

Simply blend all ingredients until smooth, drink and see the results!

Tuesday: mango surprise smoothie.

Orange fruits and veggies typically have a lot of carotenoid in them – and mango is no different, with just over 1mg of beta-carotene in every cup of the fruit. Paired with the high-protein avocado, this makes the smoothie great for your hair and nails too!

Ingredients:

A quarter cup of mango cubes

A quarter cup of mashed avocado

Half a cup of mango juice

A quarter cup of fat-free vanilla yogurt

1 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp sugar

6 ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Wednesday: purple blast smoothie.

This smoothie doesn’t just contain carotenoid from the spinach – the coconut water is also great for giving your skin that extra hydrating boost. It’s no secret that coconut water is good for you in thousands of ways, so why not start combining it into your daily skin care routine?

Ingredients:

1 cup of unsweetened coconut water

Half an avocado

Half cup of frozen blueberries

Handful of spinach leaves

Blend all nutrient packed ingredients together for a radiant glow.

Thursday: very berry smoothie.

With carotenoid packed kale and berries bursting with anti-oxidants, this smoothie is perfect for protecting your body from illness. Also, as it contains flax seeds full of omega-3 fatty acids, this drink will help to reduce redness and inflammation whilst also hydrating your skin.

Ingredients:

Half a cup of blueberries

A quarter cup of raspberries

A quarter cup of strawberries

A quarter cup of kale

100g Greek yoghurt

1 tablespoon honey

2 teaspoons flax seeds

A quarter cup of water

Blend ingredients together and drink once a week for a better complexion.

Friday: watermelon cherry smoothie.

Have you ever tried cherry tomatoes with actual cherries? If not, it's a good idea to start now! This delicious smoothie combines all the flavours of summer, whilst boosting your immune system and allowing you to have a better complexion.

Ingredients:

1 cup of watermelon

10 cherries - pitted

12 cherry tomatoes

A pinch of mint

1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds

1 teaspoon pomegranate powder

Half a cup of water

Blend all ingredients together and drink in the morning for an amazing start to your day.
