We all have one, but none of us choose 'em. Having an unusual name is more of a hassle than people realise... oh the jealously we have for those with normal names!
1. You have multiple nicknames that simplify your name. Since nobody can get the hang of pronouncing or spelling your name, they'll instead try to avoid saying it by giving you a new shortened and basic version of it.
2. The baristas at Starbucks look beyond confused when you give them your name. While everybody else is Instagramming their drinks, you're left wondering what kind of random spelling variation you'll be given this time.
3. You often question your parents on their absurd decision to give them an odd name. Although they insist that it's a beautiful name for a beautiful person, you're left wondering if they actually wanted life to be difficult for you.
4. Supply teachers made school become a special kind of hell. They always did find the weirdest ways to call out your name when taking the register, leading to sniggers from your classmates and you losing the will to live.
5. You get insanely overexcited when you meet somebody who also shares your name. It rarely happens, so you have an automatic bond with anybody who relates to your pain.
6. People constantly question you on where your name is from, and the story behind it. Yes, okay, everyone loves talking about themselves but sometimes explaining the same old story gets a tad tedious, especially when a quick Google search will tell you all you need to know.
7. Your name is always the butt of all jokes. Whether it's people butchering it completely, or your friends taking the mick for 'banter', you can't help but wish they'd at least come up with more original jokes...
8. Your day is completely made when somebody pronounces it correctly. It rarely happens, so when it does, you can't help but be surprised.
9. Sometimes, people just often avoid saying your name altogether. It doesn't take you long to realise that Jen from the office across from you completely avoids introducing you to people.
10. But at the end of the day, you wouldn't swap your name for the world. Because who wants to be like everyone else, anyway?
