10 things every twenty-something should own
Hitting your twenties can be a little depressing, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Beginning adult life can be refreshing, and fun, so here’s a little list of things every twenty-something should have, to start you off!
1. A diary is the key to being organised. You’re either going to be in a full time job or nearly finishing university so either way, you’re probably a bit of a busy bee. Get yourself one of these beauties to pen in anything you need to remember, whether it’s a gym session, an assignment hand in, or just a coffee catch-up with your pals.
2. A good primer definitely needs a place in your makeup bag. Primers will not only create a base to make your foundation look flawless, but will help smooth out any pores or wrinkle lines.
3. Invest in some good quality workout gear. Ditch the old t-shirt and leggings, and buy some some well-fitted gym clothes so you can look your best doing those squats.
4. A subscription for something which arrives at your door. Whether it’s a monthly magazine, a beauty box, or a coffee lover’s kit, it’s nice to have something to look forward to, a little present from you, to you.
5. A well fitted bra to rely on. Buy a super comfortable, professionally fitted go-to bra to slip on when you’ve got the world’s longest day ahead of you, or an important job interview, something that’s reliable, flattering, and makes you feel like the female boss you are.
6. A specific confident boosting lip gloss or lipstick that you carry everywhere with you. Something that you can put on in the car, on the tube, or on the phone. A colour and consistency that you know makes you look just spectacular!
7. Fresh flowers to come home to. They brighten up to room, smell good and are just an all-round happiness booster. Everyone loves the smell and sight of fresh flowers, and there’s no rule to say you can’t buy yourself them. #youdeserveit
8. A signature dish that tastes and looks good. Learn to master a favourite dish (if you haven’t already) and you’ll have something you’ll always be able to serve to parents/friends/last minute diners. And no, potato waffles and beans don’t count.
9. A favourite book/film that isn’t ‘The Notebook’. Come on, something a little less cliche?
10. A lifetime pal. If you’ve hit twenty with a friend who’s been around for a while now, the chances are, he/she isn’t going anywhere. You can call each other whenever, and they are generally just part of your life now, just instinctively.
